Mega Air!

Kia Ora Koutou!
In today's' post, I will be sharing with you some of my Final Assembly & our activity afterwards at Mega Air.

So, we had our final assembly. Because we are a small school, we don't have a "prizegiving", we get our year 8's to lead a final assembly. It was kind of emotional although, I didn't cry. It was kind of weird being on the stage and being the leavers.

It was quite emotional knowing that you were leaving. I had to perform part of a play we were doing... it went okay. It was kind of sad that it would be our last assembly. I think now looking back on it, I could've cried, but I didn't.

We did give out some prizes and certificates. Our teachers gave a couple of us little Greenstone necklaces which is very nice of them. Our teachers gave us each some presents which was amazing and I love the book I got. I don't think any emotions will hit me until after I've finished school.

Here is a slide with some photos of what happened at Mega Air:

Mega Air was a really fun thing to do as our end of year activity. I especially enjoyed throwing the balls at people in dodgeball, it was rather funny. We walked to Mega Air from the venue our assembly was held. We bounced like kangaroos for 2 whole hours. I loved every second of it. We even had PIZZA! At one point, these teenage boys came and played with us.

Overall, this day was full of emotions and fun. I really enjoyed it. I hope you enjoyed this post. Happy end of year and have a Merry Christmas. See you later!

Activity 1: Faster than a speeding bullet

Kia Ora Bloggers!
In this post, I am doing a Summery Learning Journey teaser week activity.
The activity I am doing is titled above.

Today, a woman named Emma came into our class representing the Summer Learning Journey crew. SHe showed us some teaser activities and we got away with some of them. This is the activity I chose to do. To be honest, I chose this because I thought it would be quick and easy. Unfortunately, the website I did t on didn't like me so it looks a bit odd.

What I have to do is create some 4 new similes. I have found this easy and enjoyed it. Here it is:

This was a really fun activity and it wa easier than I had expected. I really enjoyed doing this activity and it was really fun. If you guys would like to see what I was doing HERE is the link.

I hope you enjoyed and I will see you next time!

Bye!

Home Learning - Math Word Search

Kia Ora Bloggers!
In today's post, it will be another one of my home learning posts.

Unlike every other term, this term, I and a few of my peers made up some of these ideas with the help of our classmates. This means, that it was made by students for students. This means, that although they will be a bit harder to do, they may also be a little bit more fun and a little less..... boring.

For our 'Home Learning' We need to do these things:

- Read for 20 minutes each evening at home
-  4 progressions or 40 minutes on Math-Whizz
- One home learning blog post each week
- Any extra things we need to do

If you would like to check out our 'Home Learning' through our site, here is the link.

Today's activity is "Math word search"
Home Learning//Word Search
So, the first thing I did was to create a math word search. It wasn't really too hard to do this as I have already done this earlier this year. I actually found this quite fun to do! All of the math equations are written words, not numbers.

Can you find it? I got my brothers to do it and it went quite well. Unfortunately, I threw the pieces of paper out. This is quite easy to do so if you want to do it, it isn't out of reach.  This was extremely fun as it is math but at the same time it isn't.

I hope you enjoyed this! Thank you for watching.

See you next time!

Writing in the PRESENT TENSE!!!

Kia Ora Bloggers!
In today's post, I will be sharing with you my E-asttle Descriptive Writing.

If you didn't already know, each term we do multiple writing workbooks where we complete a series of activities and long writes. This term's one has brought us up to our End-oF-Year E-asttle.

So far this term we have done multiple writing topics and our last one was descriptive writing. We did our end of year test based on this. I do not think I did my best but it will be okay!
I really enjoyed writing this and I hope you enjoyed it too!

I have highlighted some of the parts and I will explain why later...
Here it is:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Market:

As my feet tread down onto the concrete, I can make out the quiet voices coming from the market becoming louder as I approach it. Glancing down upon my watch, I notice that is has just gone 12 o’clock. I am overcome with excitement, I am so very excited to buy new foods and maybe even something else.

Continuing to creep closer to the market, I notice all of the stalls are covered with Royal Blue Covers, it is reminding me of the ocean. The breeze gently taps me on the shoulder as it rushes by, making the market sound like the sea, all wishy washy. Walking past stalls, I spot people everywhere, even in the deepest most parts of the market; they are simply a never ending chain of numbers. Carrying on strolling down the market, I spy an orange on the ground, picking it up, I notice the little divots on the skin, making it seem rough upon look, but smoothe on feel. Standing up, I get a fresh smell of wind, making my mind fall into a cave of peace. Turning around in circles, the overwhelming smell of freshly baked goods drives me insane, so insane I buy some food. As I open my mouth, I spy the chocolate lathered pastry, and as I bite the flavour dances in my mouth, it dances until it is eventually all gone.

Hearing the chirping of birds, I thank them for the lovely music they create, bringing happiness to all. Staring up at the trees, I notice their gentle movement rocking back and forth. The greenery brightening up the whole market place. The noise of the breeze is rushing over me like a fresh splash of water, bringing clarity to my mind and body. I feel as if all of the sensations are bringing clear spirits and mind to me. The smell of fresh fruits and pastries are music to my ears. The food is an overwhelming smell that takes over my sense of being rational, I walk over to a stall and ask for food.

Glaring into the sky, the hot rays of sun burn my eyes and skin. The ground below my feet has become hot coals, you must be a master to walk on it. The smell of freshly baked goods has become dull, just like a grey sky. The chatter and laughter among people is still a burning fire, only just beginning. Walking over to a stall, I ask for a half of a Watermelon. Using a metal spoon, I bite into the juicy fruit. As I bite into it, the flavours disperse into my mouth like a bath bomb. Dispersing deliciousness all throughout my mouth, I find the urge to buy more watermelon; it is like someone is tapping me on the shoulder… Annoying.

Finishing my Watermelon, my eyes wander down the road that is my arm to my watch. I glare at the time, my eyes are almost popping out of my head when I see what it says. 4 o’clock! Staring up into the sky, I see the sun is further down, ready to set. So, I begin my trek down the concrete road. Savoring the last bit of Watermelon in my mouth, I realise, this day was good.

THE END.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The parts I have highlighted are the parts I am proud of. I am proud of these as they have descriptive writing that makes it nicer to read. It shows I can use Metaphors, Personification and similes in my writing. Looking at this piece of writing now, I can see where I could improve things and wish I would have done that then. I am so happy with this because I didn't put enough thought into, but I think I did string together my ideas quite nicely.

I really enjoyed doing this writing and I think that I have really improved since the start of the year.
If there is any way I can improve this, I would love some feedback.

Thank you for reading and I will see you next time!

Hooked on Books Week! (Part 1)

Kia Ora Bloggers!
In today's post, I will be sharing the first part of our Hooked on Books Week!

Hooked on books week is a week in which each class gets a new book everyday and on the last day of Hooked on Books week we have a Book Character Dress Up day.

The books this year and really interesting. Sometimes you get really bored whilst listening to a book, but this year it has been really intriguing and quite great to listen to.

So far this week we have gotten 3 books (Only 2 more to come!)

I have created a slide with each book, author and the blurb:

Each and every one of these books are amazing. My favourite is 'The Boy Who Flew' as it has some mystery involve with it. It also reminds me of 'Back to the future'.

I am looking forward to the rest of the books. I still have no idea who I will be for Dress Up Day! I am hoping that the books to come will be just as good as these past ones have been.

I hope you enjoyed today's post and I will see you next time!

Home Learing Blog (For This Week)

Kia Ora Bloggers!
In today's post, it will be another one of my home learning posts.

Unlike every other term, this term, I and a few of my peers made up some of these ideas with the help of our classmates. This means, that it was made by students for students. Today's activity is "Make Yourself an Author"
Home Learning//Make Yourself an Author

When I was in year 3, we were learning about Castles. Motes, Arrowslits etc....
We got to the point where we knew quite a few facts, It was actually pretty impressive. So, our teacher said that we were each going to make a book about it.

First, we had to choose what 4 things we wanted to write facts about & draw. After that, we made our front cover, on with we had to write (Author, Illustrations) By "name". We wrote our introduction & conclusions. Finally, we got to that juicy part, we got to start making our 4 facts. Each fact had 1 page and a picture to go along with them.

After they were finished, we were all quite impressed with ourselves. Our teacher was so impressed that she made something very cool happen...
She tried to get it so that we could get them in the school library, barcodes & everything. It happened and it was amazing and I am and was very happy about that.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find the book, so if I find it I will update this blog :)

This experience to have as a young kid was pretty cool, it was all very exciting.
I hope you enjoyed and I will see you next time!

Maths........Maths................More Maths!

Kia Ora Bloggers!
In today's post I will be sharing my learning about Maths. I will be sharing what I have learnt by teaching you.

The maths I will be teaching you is Standard Form & Ordering/Comparing Fractions (Changing Decimals, Percentages & Fraction into one another). If you didn't already know, each term we have multiple math workbooks we must complete. This is where I have got my information from.

I found both of these things pretty easy to get to grips with once I got it. I think that they are quite easy once you understand. I would say I struggled a bit, but I still understand it so, without further ado here is my presentation:

I really enjoyed making this and I put a huge amount of effort. I really like maths when I understand it, how about you?

I hope you have learnt something. If you did please tell me :)

If there is anything that I missed out or that I could've changed to be better, please tell me and I will make an effort to improve it!

I hope you enjoyed this and that you learnt something!
Thank you for reading and I'll see you next time!

Home Learning Blog (For last week).

Kia Ora Bloggers!
This is last weeks Home Learning Blog Post.
Last week, whenever I came home, my Chromebook started acting up and it has finally let me do a blog post on it, so here is my home learning blog post.

Unlike every other term, this term, I and a few of my peers made up some of these ideas with the help of our classmates. This means, that it was made by students for students. This means, that although they will be a bit harder to do, they may also be a little bit more fun and a little less..... boring.

- Any extra things we need to do

If you would like to check out our 'Home Learning' through our site, here is the link.

Here is the activity that I am doing:
Home Learning//Design your Future House

So for this, I couldn't actually make a floorplan because I don't know how to but... I can explain and use imaged from offline.

I would want my house to be 2 storied, I would want it to be on a couple of acres as well, just to have space to do things and have animals etc..In my house, we have 3 Bathrooms, 5 Bedrooms, 1 Kitchen, 1 living room and a lounge area near the kitchen. We also have a garage. (forgot to mention it ahah).
I would probably want something similar in my house, maybe just bigger rooms and more living rooms etc...

Here is what I would want my Bathrooms to be like:

Here is what I would want my Kitchen to be like:

Here is what I would want my Bedrooms to be like:

Here is what I would want my Living Rooms to be like:

These images are not exactly what I would want. I would probably want it to be more wooden and all around just a little bit different. I don't know what I would want the outside of the house to look like. That is why I haven't added an image for that.

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed last week's Home learning Post!

I will see you next time!

Symphony Orchestra......... FANTASTIC!!!

Kia Ora Blogger!
Guess what today's post is? You guessed it! Today, I will be telling you about myself and my schools experience with hearing a Symphony Orchestra!

First of all, before I tell you the experience let me lay down the facts.

- This had been weeks in the making
- When we were on the bus, we were excited
- This was a good way of missing most of a school day.

When we first arrived we took our seats. My friend, Jedi & I took some photos beforehand & here they are:

Shortly after this, it started and boy was it amazing.

We heard the song that is in the McCains add and A star wars song, we also heard the Harry Potter theme song. We travelled to different countries throughout the songs. Unfortunately, I forgot all of them. There were other schools as well.

We also heard  a new piece of music never presented before and it was great! We also heard a special instruments, kind of like a piano but metal and very special.

Overall everything was amazing! Would definitely recommend it!

Here are some More photos:

After that, we went to the Margaret Mahy Park. Afterwards we came back to school and now I am writing a blog post about it!

Here are photos from the park:

Overall, today was amazing and I wouldn't change a thing!
I'm sure anyone there would say it was great as well.

Hope you enjoyed and thank you for reading.

I will see you next post!

Home Learning - School Uniform

This week the activity that I am doing is 'Create a new Uniform'
Create a new uniform// Home Learning
So, I didn't really know what to change. Maybe the colours of some things (like our T-shirts, which are white).
I think that there are things that I would add.

I think maybe, for the year 8's this year (me), we should do/ have done leavers 19 jerseys.
I think it would be really cool to have that done.

Here is a little diagram:

Sorry that it is bad, I didn't have enough time to do it.

Yeah, so pretty much just a jersey like I explained earlier, I don't know what colour though, so I did green.

And there would be maybe a white 'Leavers 19' on it.

This was honestly quite easy, but I think next time I will do this a bit better, as it was rushed.

I hope you enjoyed and I will see you next time!

Athletics Day 2019!

Kia Ora Bloggers!

In today's post, I will be sharing with you, this years 2019 Athletics day.

To start off with, it was actually quite a drama just to get it done! The weeks coming up to Athletics Day, we had been practicing everything... only one problem. Year 7/8's hadn't done Long jump yet! So the day before athletics Day was supposed to be we did it. It was actually kind of nerve racking because we had no idea if we would be able to practice it or not. Then on the Friday it was supposed to be on, it was too wet so we did it on the following Wednesday.

The morning of Athletics Day, we did some reading and then after an early morning tea, we started...

Here is a slide where I go through everything we did and some photos:

I hope you enjoyed this just as much as I enjoyed Athletics Day!

Thank you for reading and I will see you next time.

So, I found this website called "WeVideo". It is where you can edit videos online. When you get to the page, there are multiple choices or "Plans" you can choose. Of course, I chose the free option.

So far it looks pretty cool and I will be using this next week when I do a "Weather Report" post on this blog.
I know there are some other people in my class who have used this before and they say that this is amazing.

Here is what it looks like in some photos.

So far this looks really cool, I am looking forward to using it more!
I am looking forward to using this and I will be updating this blog soon!

Maths - Fractions, Decimals & Percentages...

Kia Ora Bloggers!
In today's post, I will be talking about what I have been doing for maths recently.

So, for every topic of maths, we get an online workbook where we have to work through all of our questions. We usually get 1 - 2 weeks to complete this work, and when we don't finish it... you have some real explaining to do.

So, I thought I would show you some of that work and show some of my struggles as well.
So, our workbook was converting, Decimals, Percentages and Fractions into each other.

For example:

You have - 43/50, 0.91, 7/8 & 84%.
If I wanted to change them all to percentages I would have to.....

Here is a slide where I explain that.

Here it is:

I hope you learnt something from this and I know that the workbook I did really made me learn a lot and was actually kind of difficult. I think once you get the grasps of this, it can be really fun & easy. You just have to remember how to do it.

Thank you for reading this and again, I hope you learned something.
 I'll see you next time.

IN THE NOW... Present Tense Writing!

Kia Ora Bloggers!

In today's post, I will be sharing what we have been doing for writing this week.

This term our focus for writing is description. That means that we are working on writing in the present tense. I find this pretty easy to do as I have done it in the past.

If you didn't already know, for each focus, we have a workbook we work through and do activities/write on.

This week and last week, we have been preparing for our E-asttle test that is coming up very quickly, which is scary but we have also been doing things to help us with that.
Something we did was we looked at the rubric that our teachers mark us on and we marked other people's marking.

Today we marked our own pieces of writing with our editing buddy. It was actually kind of fun to do. We marked them on:

Ideas
Structure & Language
Organisation
Sentence Structure
Vocabulary.

Here is my piece of writing and how it got marked:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Forest of flowers.

Staring into the horizon, I can see the colours of the morning sun shining upon my face, creating shadows behind me. I can feel a peaceful morning surrounding me.  Breathing in & out, I can see the clouds of my breath, indicating that it is a cold morning. I continue to take steps, in the forest of trees and flowers.

Closing me eyes, I can feel the shallow breath of wind upon my face. Taking a step into the rows of flowers beneath me, I can feel the crunch of the flowers; as I turn around after I step, I see a trail of flowers springing back up after being crunched. Taking more steps, I glance down to my feet, my shoes are turning purple from the flowers. Staring into blank space, there are dozens of green leaved trees staring back at me.

I begin to dance around, I feel like a lamb on a cloud, prancing around, all light and fluffy. I can feel the flowers brushing my ankle, tickling me. Taking in a huge breathe, I can feel tension releasing. I can feel a clarity in the midths of a morning walk. I am a floating hot air balloon, flying free through the air, not caring about anything else but what is happening to me right now.

Creeping up on me, I can feel a massive gust of wind whooshing up onto me, clambering all over me, making sure I cannot go anywhere but down. A feeling of adrenaline attacks my body, flowing throughout my blood system like a hungry monster. I can hear the leaves swaying back and forth. An orchestra is formed by the leaves and flowers.

The flow of wind is a slapping hand to my face, trying to get me to listen. The hand doesn't understand me, it doesn’t listen because all it does is create havoc. The flowers are turned into a tornado of peace and harmfulness, the beauty lighting up the whole forest with a golden sprinkle of freshness.

Slowing down, the wind flow comes to a stop. My hair has become ruffled and I fix it. Stepping down again, I remember the beauty of this place and why it should be protected. Glaring into the sky, I see the sky has changed into day time.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My marks:

Ideas = R5

Structure and Language = R6

Organisation = R6

Sentence Structure = R5

Vocabulary = R5

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed doing all of these activities and I hope you like my writing.

Thank You for reading this post.

See you next time.

Home Learning: Poetry & Picture.....

Kia Ora Bloggers,

This week the activity that I am doing is 'Write a Poem'.

I have made a slide that has my poem and my picture so I hope you enjoy.
Here it is:

I really enjoyed this activity and the picture was really hard to draw it took me like over the span of a couple days, so maybe 2 and a half hours. Apart from that I enjoyed doing everything else.

Writing Activity!

Kia Ora bloggers, welcome to Term 4!

In today's post, I will be sharing with you an activity I had to do in class today for writing. Today we were reviewing and making sure we knew what Similes, Metaphors & personifications were.

We have 'editing buddies' who are people who we work with on writing, so we got with them and we had an activity of creating a poster about Similes, Metaphors and Personification.

I did my poster with Parwin, and we worked really hard. here it is:

It was pretty easy to do as we knew how to explain everything etc...

If I were to do it again, I would probably add more colour and be more creative with the way I did some of the sentences.

I hope you enjoyed and I will see you next time!
