Kia Ora bloggers, here is another home learning blog post. Today it will be a book report.

I am doing the book 'Chase' by "Linwood Barclay".

This book is about a boy who finds something out that he shouldn't, helps someone he shouldn't. Gets caught up in a lot of scary things. He runs for his life, and someone else's life, but Who's? What will happen?

I think the story was pretty good, it gives you a lot of detail and description which is awesome because the book has a lot going on and it really pulls you in which is good.

I would probably recommend it to people.

Fun Features of a Report!

Kia Ora Bloggers! Today I will be posting about the features of a Non - Chronological Report.

This week, we have started a new genre of writing, as you can probably tell, it is 'Non - Chronological Reports'.

First, we looked at a Report and had to identify all of the features it on our own of the report.
Afterwards, our teacher told us through a presentation what they were.

Next, we had to create a poster on 'Canva' that told us all of the features of a Non - Chronological Report.

Because the photo isn't clear here are the features: Introduction, Headings, Subheadings, Diagram/Photo, 3rd person, Present Tense, Informations & Facts

Throughout this activity, it reminded me of certain features I had forgotten about since last year. Things like: Headings and Subheadings instead of titles and subtitles, diagrams & photos and 3rd person.

The easiest things was definitely making the poster because i have done things like this before, it was also the most fun thing.

A Wish That Turns Into A Dream

Kia Ora Bloggers! This post is going to be about our classes long write. Over the past few weeks we have been learning how to write in present tense. The piece of writing we did wasn't exactly present tense but it is close. It is based off of a short movie called "The Dream Giver". Here is the Video:

To start the process of a long write, we would normally watch a video and brainstorm ideas based off of that, look at a photo and use that as a starter to help us think of a story or we would do a long write with a paragraph as a starter.

As you can tell, we used this video. Our lovely teachers will always have a planning sheet set up either on paper or in our document on the Chromebook. We will plan throughout the different stages of our story, no sentences just points we want to put in.

We will have forty minutes to write this. We have a success criteria that we will normally look at before we start writing our story so we know what we need to add to make our story more interesting and descriptive to really capture the reader. After we finish writing the story we will fill out our success criteria and answer some questions. *Rule for Success Criteria, Green = I did it well, Orange = I can do better, Red = I didn't use it.

For this story, we needed to create a story with our 'Dream Giver'. Before we could even start planning, we created our own 'Dream Giver'. Here is mine:

After that, our lovely teachers told us that we were going to base our dream on something that we aspire to be or really want, a dream of ours. This is what we would base our story on.

After our planning sheet, I wrote my story, I put it in a slide so it would be easier to read. Here it is:

Some challenges for me was probably thing of descriptive language to put in and also using present tense, I think this was hard because when you are into a story, you don't think about putting a whole bunch of description in.

Something I found easy was thinking of what I wanted my dream to be.

Home Learning - Math is cool.

Kia Ora Bloggers! Today this is going to be my Home Learning post. Here is what I am doing: Teaching an adult in my family a method of math that we have been using in class.

Whilst I was at home, I asked my dad some questions and told him what we were learning about. if you see my last blog post, you will notice something about "Pythagoras Theorem". Unfortunately, because my dad went to school he already knew about this.

So, I asked him to solve some question, which he got right. Suddenly, he changed the tables on me and asked me some questions. It was quite fun and a bit funny.

The challenges of this is:
1) If I were to teach an adult, chances are, they would already know it.
2) If I were to teach someone younger than me they probably wouldn't know it.

A Multiverse of Angles

Kia Ora Bloggers! This week I will be posting about some of the maths we have been doing. Lately, we have been doing Area, Perimeter & Volume but this week we have been doing 'Angles'.

Calculating the angles and figuring out what x is isn't just the half of it. We started by watching a video as we started out with triangles, squares, interior angles & exterior angles.

I struggled with exterior angles because I found them very confusing, I think that this is something that I can improve on. I found the exterior angles to be a struggle because I found it confusing as I didn't grasp onto good enough.

After that, we went on to hexagons and pentagons, and working out exterior angles of octagons.

My favourite part was "Pythagoras Theorem", this is to do with triangles and finding out the exterior angle. One catch, it only works with right angles. This theorem was new to me, and I am very pleased that I learnt it as it is very interesting.

After I watched the video I went on to answer a set of questions.

I would would say that this was my favourite part because I found it easier than anything else. I think that I did well and I hope that I can continue to succeed with this.

Kia Ora here is my home learning blog, this week I am doing the answer is 44. It is where you create a question and an answer, but the answer has to be 44.

I will do a math question, as I cannot think of anything else.

My question is = 176 divided by 4, plus 88, minus half of 88, minus that again, which is...

44!
